In order to incorporate the increasing amount of information on labels, Avery’s photo-reactive adhesive technology enables extended-content labels.

With the photo-reactive adhesive, which turns removable when exposed to UV light, the label can be customised to behave as permanent or removable in the required areas. This is achieved by printing a black graphic shadow mask on the back of the liner.

Darren Milligan, senior marketing director, Avery Dennison, said, “This allows the adhesive properties to be irreversibly modified by UV light. The area under mask remains permanent while the exposed area becomes removable. And since the adhesive is printable, this becomes a simple solution for creating extended content labels.”

“This innovative range of products and technologies speaks of our commitment and also our ability to continually deliver new and innovative solutions to help our customers address their business and operational challenges,” said Pankaj Bharadwaj, commercial director, label and packaging materials, South Asia, Avery Dennison.

Besides this, Avery is showcasing new developments in clear-on-clear label substrates manufactured at its India plants including specialised applications like Global MDO conformable clear-on-clear labels. “Global MDO is a more sustainable, semi-squeezable self-adhesive construction designed to improve conformable labelling across all application types, from food through to home and personal care and general purpose segments.”

Global MDO offers to eliminate the challenges in conversion of conformable labels. These require thicker films, which are difficult to convert, lack clarity and used a lot of material, whereas thinner and more rigid films give clarity, but are not conformable enough. According to Avery, Global MDO achieves the balance between rigidity and conformity required.”

Avery is also showcasing FasFlex plate mounting tapes and TT Sensor Plus, a time temperature sensor for intelligent labelling applications.
