Heidelberg India contributes to the company’s success with sales of over 100 printing units

23 May 2012 |  Noel D'cunha   |   Comment Now

Heidelberg, one of the world’s largest press manufacturers, has taken almost 2,000 orders at Drupa, including bookings for 550 sheetfed press of which sales of above 100 printing units, including some big-scale packaging projects, has come from Heidelberg India.

The orders overall came from 80 countries, with top orders coming from Germany and China followed by the US, Middle East, UK and Japan.

For the Indian market, Heidelberg India said it sold several Varimatrix die-cutters, a double-digit number of Suprasetter CTP devices and also bagged orders for its digital press – the Linoprint C series, besides scores of Polar and Stahlfolder equipment, adding that details of the sales will be announced in due course.

“Drupa 2012 has been an eye-opener for many printers with them showing great interest not only in our commercial print solutions but more interestingly in our packaging and post-press solutions,” said Klaus Nielsen, managing director of Heidelberg India. “I am very upbeat and humbled about the confidence that the Indian printers have shown in our Drupa offerings,” he added.

On display at the Heidelberg stand, were some 60 innovations for commercial and packaging printing sectors. Bestsellers included the new "flagship press" - the B1 format Speedmaster XL 106 - and the Speedmaster SX platform, which sold almost 500 units worldwide.

Nielsen said that the level of interest shown by the printers in the post-press equipment, the digital printing press that Heidelberg fully integrated into its portfolio and the functionality of Prinect, is a proof that integration is undoubtedly the number one topic in the integration. “All customer demonstrations were booked out from the first day of the show to the last.”

Peter Rego, sales head for Heidelberg India, said that the success at Drupa 2012 is a good start to the new financial year. “It will keep us busy looking after new customers and filing more orders in India as well.”
