Rohit Rajpal, director, Zhongke India says, “With foreign players like Apple, Xiaomi and Samsung expanding their operations in India, the demand for rigid boxes are going to be phenomenal. This unprecedented boom in mobile phones and its accessories has encouraged many small and local manufacturers to enter the luxury rigid box market in India.”

He explains, “In order to support the branding objectives, mobile phone manufacturers are increasingly focused on providing customers with good quality packaging. The packaging has now become the most important aspect for brand promotion and to boost the sale of their product.”

“Manufacturers of rigid box cater to the varied client base. The main clientele has emerged from the smartphones, cosmetics, perfumery and sweet and confectionery food products segment”.

The global mobile phone packaging market is driven by the phenomenal sales of mobile handsets which include charger, USB cables, headphones, manuals, and other complementary accessories which are offered at the time of purchase.

“The global market for these products is expected to witness growth due to evolution in the product offerings by the manufacturers.”

As per the estimates of a report by Transparency Market Research, the global mobile phone packaging market is predicted to display a CAGR of 7.4 percent between 2017 and 2027. At the current pace of growth, the market is expected to be worth USD 8,055.1-million by 2027 from a valuation of USD 3,715.3-million in 2016.

Among all the regions, today, Asia Pacific holds a 30.3% share of the overall market. This region is expected to gain further in the upcoming years on account of high growth rate in India and other countries in South East Asia.

In addition, the rise of e-commerce trade has augmented the demand for rigid secondary packaging to protect the goods during transport and shipping.

“Understanding the demand and the growth of the rigid box market, Zhongke India has already tweaked its machines to offer quicker manufacturing. Today each machine can produce up to 38 boxes per minute,” adds Rajpal.

One thing is absolutely clear, the mobile phone packaging market is blooming. Like Zhongke India, rigid box manufacturers have to understand the demand for the growth of the rigid box, and accordingly improve its production.
